Dropping the granite slab: a contracting metaphor.

A contractor is renovating your kitchen—floors, cabinets, backsplash—but when the countertops arrive, an outside team sizes the granite, cuts out the sink…it’s a difficult job best handled by specialists.

Would you be mad?

Maybe you’re self-producing. There is no contractor, so to speak. What tasks are best suited to specialists?

If you struggle with mixing or believe that mastering is some dark magic, are there better ways to devote your creative energy?

Maybe you’re not the best at tuning vocals, so you convince yourself it’s a vibe to leave those most important of tracks sounding raw.

Or your band recorded with a killer tracking engineer, paying hourly for studio time, but the engineer may not have the time to devote to properly finishing your album.

Why my mixes are loud. It’s not to make mastering

Why my mixes are loud. It’s not to make mastering engineers cry (ask any good one). It’s to release a master that hits hard and resembles the mix that you approved.

Furthermore, AI mastering is NOT the answer. The value of an expert mastering engineer can’t be overstated. Loud is just the smallest part of the equation.
